Once attached to your Battle.net account, you’ll periodically be prompted to enter one of these codes in addition to your regular account password when logging into the game client or Battle.net Account Management.

An authenticator for a game. I'm not even sure what to say about how dumb that is... In most cases, if you’re on a secure network behind a secure firewall and most importantly your smart about where not to go on the internet. You’re not likely to get hacked through your computer (brute force attacks, key loggers, etc.).
I think the bigger issue is how unplayable these patches are making this game. I played the last two Diablo games for years and loved the hell out of them. I built multiple lvl 90+ characters.
